For Shopify merchants who ship across borders
Every product customs-ready.
Without the spreadsheet afternoon.
DeclareKit scans your catalog, suggests HS codes, 10-digit US HTS codes and country of origin for every variant, and explains each suggestion. You approve, and we write them into Shopify's native customs fields that labels, customs forms and duty calculations use.
Free catalog scan. Codes are suggestions that you confirm; you stay in control of every change.
No more US de minimis
Since Aug 29, 2025, low-value shipments into the US can owe duties, and duties depend on HS code and country of origin.
No HS code, no label
Shopify won't print international shipping labels for items that are missing HS codes.
Wrong code, surprise bills
Missing or wrong customs data means inaccurate duties at checkout, and customers get billed on delivery.
How it works
- 1
Free scan
Find every variant missing an HS code, country of origin, weight or a usable customs description.
- 2
Smart suggestions
We group similar products, so a 10,000-SKU catalog often needs only 50–150 distinct codes. Each code is checked against the official US HTS schedule and comes with its reasoning.
- 3
You review
Approve the high-confidence ones in bulk. Uncertain items (sets, mixed materials, electronics) are flagged for you or your broker.
- 4
Write to Shopify
Approved codes go into Shopify's native HS, country-specific HS and origin fields, not a hidden metafield. Every batch has a one-click undo.
- 5
Stay current
New products are suggested automatically, and you get a heads-up when HTS revisions affect codes you use.
US HTS, not just 6 digits
Full 10-digit US HTS suggestions, plus 6-digit HS for everywhere else. Country-specific codes for EU, UK and Canada are on the roadmap.
Country of origin, done right
Origin is suggested from your vendor and supplier data with a clear source for each, never guessed silently.
Explainable
Every suggestion shows the heading, the official description and why it fits, so you can defend it to a broker.
Audit trail
Who approved what, when, and what it replaced. Export a customs-ready CSV anytime.

FAQ
Are the codes guaranteed to be correct?
No. DeclareKit gives suggestions with reasoning and a confidence level, and nothing is written to your store until you approve it. Customs classification is legally the importer's or exporter's responsibility. For complex or high-value goods, confirm with a licensed customs broker.
Doesn't Shopify already suggest HS codes?
Shopify suggests codes one product at a time as you type. DeclareKit works on your whole catalog at once, adds 10-digit US HTS and country of origin, explains each suggestion, and keeps new products covered.
Where are codes saved?
In Shopify's native variant customs fields (HS code, country-specific HS codes, country of origin), which Shopify Shipping, customs forms and duty calculations read. Every batch can be undone.
Does it calculate duties or file customs entries?
No. We focus on getting your product data right. Shopify and your carrier or broker handle duties and filing.
What data do you access?
Product and variant data only (titles, descriptions, types, vendors, materials, and existing customs fields). We don't access customer or order data for classification, and we never sell data.
